Care for some jellied tongues or would you prefer aspic-glazed lamb loaf?

What pops into your mind when you think of vintage food and recipes?

I think of meat in aspic.

I have never eaten it (I'm vegetarian). In fact, the very sight of meat in aspic makes me gag.

It seems that vintage recipe books feature plenty of jellied foods.

It's not just standard meat that goes into these grotesque creations, nothing is off limits.

Apparently, food that was jellied showed that you had a bit of money.

You see, gelatin needs refrigeration to set. So you needed a refrigerator.

In the 1950s, to own a refrigerator, you needed $$$. Interesting.

Here are some tasty treats that may have you feeling sick.
